Back to mad men These days, the only thing that might break up the monotony of the workplace is a picture of your family or maybe a coffee mug with a funny quote on it. But these days, especially if we work from home, we can put some interesting, weird or cute items on our desks.
We asked people here in The Edge What they put on their desks or in their offices and keep just for fun – because they love it, because it means something special, or just because. Here are some of the answers we got.
A recurring animation of our late cat Pouncey on my keyboard LCD screen.
Antonio G. Di Benedetto, Trade Writer
One year ago, my wife and I had to say goodbye to one of our beloved cats, Bonsie. She had been a loving companion for over 11 years and my wife had adopted her as a kitten shortly before we started dating, making her an integral part of our relationship. That made it even more shocking when our goodbyes, due to her declining health, came more abruptly than expected. But in addition to all the photos and videos we have to remind us of our best girl (apologies to our eight-month-old daughter), I get a heartwarming reminder of Bonsie every time I sit at my desk.
When I got militrix zoom 75 I picked up a mechanical keyboard from a long-awaited group order last year, and I opted for the built-in LCD because — well, why not? Perhaps unsurprisingly, once I built my board with that little screen inside, I was like, “Well, what do I do with this thing?” So I let it display something boring like battery level.
After Bouncy passed, I revisited the GIF feature and decided to put a cute clip of our girl in there. The GIF was a collection of photos taken on a random day, and if you look closely, you can see her eyes go adorable when she notices me taking a picture of her. We now call her the Bouncy Keyboard, and while it sucks to see her leaning on my desk and not be able to feel her soft fur or hear her sweet purr, I love seeing “our Bouncy girl” every day.
the The Legend of Zelda glowing heart container icon
Shawn Holster, Senior Editor
Whenever I feel a little tired, I have an extra life waiting for me. My officeMy family bought me this. The Legend of Zelda The heart box is a year old, so it sums up their love too! (Less important if you buy it for yourself, so I recommend gifting it instead.) It glows when you press the front button, and that’s it. Two AA batteries won’t power it for months on end, so turn it off when you’re feeling cheerful again! You can also import it A Tears of the Kingdom Release Based on the latest game.

Spring Wall Clips
Alison Johnson, Reviewer
I’m hesitant to put nails in the wall in my office (which is also my bedroom, by the way). So I end up with a bunch of little things I want to put on the wall but can’t commit to, like something my kid drew or a mess of tech event badges in my desk drawer. But lately, I’ve been using Command Strips, hanging little hooks and clips around the house, and have started using them to decorate the wall behind my desk.
the Clothes pegs It’s perfect because I can swap out a new piece of cute kids art whenever I want, and I don’t have to commit to where it’s located. This comes in handy if I want to rearrange my office – or my bedroom – and I’ve never had a problem getting it off the wall without damaging it.

amiibo link for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
I’m not a fan of office jewelry, but I love this to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the KingdomI was inspired by the way Link seems to use his Ultrahand powers to create a better world around him. If he can do it, maybe I can too—though I may have to make things happen without a magic arm.

Dorothy Parker Finger Puppet
Barbara Krasnoff, Reviews Editor
I love Dorothy Parker, both for her writing and her caustic personality. I even bought her once. bottle of gin Because it was named after her (and to be honest, it wasn’t bad at all). So when I saw her among a large number of famous finger puppets At a book fair a few years ago, I simply had to buy it. Parker doll There is a small magnet on the back of its head, so it can easily be attached to any metal surface. In fact, I brought it with me when I started working at The EdgeWhen I accidentally left it in the office during the lockdown in 2020, I felt deprived. Fortunately, Dorothy has held out throughout the pandemic, and now she’s back in my home office, smiling at me wryly.
Cute note holder for desk
Victoria Song, Lead Reviewer
A while ago, a friend gave me a cat-shaped note holder as a souvenir from Beijing. At first, I didn’t know what to do with it. Then I started putting motivational notes in it, and surprisingly, it worked. After a while, I started typing or writing the occasional meme. (Yes, I love that kind of meme.) an act (I’m writing Vice President Kamala Harris’ entire coconut tree speech on a sticky note one week.) When I’m in desperate need of strength, I stick a photo card of my favorite K-pop singer.
This product only holds one note at a time, which helps me stay creative week after week. Most importantly, it reminds me to take breaks and laugh at myself whenever I get too serious. I don’t know where to get this exact note holder, but you can find a bunch of fun ones on Amazon and Etsy.
